By Ruth Clampett & Darrell Van Citters

Forty years in the making, the long-awaited book on Bob Clampett, the wildest of the Looney Tunes directors and creator of Beany and Cecil, has finally arrived!  It’s both a memoir and a history of Bob’s career, recounted by his oldest daughter, Ruth Clampett.  Bob’s career paralleled the development of the animated cartoon in Hollywood; in this engaging book, you’ll learn how Bob was almost employed by Walt Disney, his time at the Leon Schlesinger cartoon studio, helping develop Porky Pig, Daffy Duck. Bugs Bunny and Tweety, and in the process directing some of the looniest of the Looney Tunes.

Later, he was an early innovator in Los Angeles television with his creation of the wildly popular live puppet show, Time for Beany, featuring Beany, Cecil the Sea Sick Sea Serpent, Capt. Huffenpuff and others, which although produced for children, became must-see TV for the likes of Albert Einstein, Jimmy Stewart and many of the film industry and music industry’s biggest stars.  When television became an outlet for new animated product, Bob was once again an early pioneer with an animated version of Beany & Cecil, which helped Mattel sell a million Beany copters.

Bob saved lots of production art and photos from his decades long career, becoming known as one of the best sources of Looney Tunes artwork.  This 256-page volume is filled with over 450 images of rare art, family photos, behind the scenes photos at the Leon Schlesinger studio, as well as photos from the making of Time for Beany and the Beany & Cecil animated series.  If you’re a fan of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck or any of the rest of the Looney Tunes gang, or a fan of Beany & Cecil, this book is a must-have!
